Peter Mackenzie, Principal
For over two decades, Peter has been shaping Atlantic Canada’s retail landscape—connecting retailers with communities, securing prime locations, and developing spaces where businesses can attract the customers they need to grow. His passion lies in aligning retail strategies with meaningful community impact, and each of his projects reflects that commitment.
With a career spanning the full spectrum of retail real estate development and investment, he brings a proven track record of delivering value. As Chief Investment Officer at Plaza REIT, he spearheaded the development of flagship projects including Hogan Court Plaza in Bedford, Nova Scotia and Dieppe Boulevard Plaza in Dieppe, New Brunswick. At CBRE, he guided iconic brands like IKEA and Cabela’s in establishing a foothold in Atlantic Canada and rolled out store programs for industry leaders including Giant Tiger, GoodLife Fitness, Shoppers Drug Mart, Sobeys and major banks.
Whether it’s bringing IKEA to Atlantic Canada, developing grocery-anchored centers, or revitalizing existing retail spaces, his goal is to create sustainable, high-performing developments that deliver value for retailers, property owners, and the communities they serve.
Our Approach
Retail development isn’t just about constructing buildings—it’s about forging partnerships and strategic decisions that stand the test of time. For grocers and major retailers, committing to a site is a decades-long investment, and our role is to ensure that each project aligns with a retailer’s vision while delivering sustainable returns for property owners.
Every development is a dynamic process, driven by evolving consumer habits, changing demographics, and local market trends. From the first site tour to the grand opening, we take pride in delivering innovative, customer-first projects.
